He is a very competent and kind surgeon. I went to him for a cochlear implant and he wanted to implant it in my right ear where I had some residual hearing but required a very powerful hearing aid instead of my left ear which was completely deaf. Long story short, medically speaking, his opinion to implant it in my right ear is more correct than my desire to implant it in my left ear. I knew that at the time and I understood why but the very tiny chance of a possible complete failure that would destroy my hearing in my right ear, leaving me completely deaf was too great of a risk for me to accept. He picked up on that fear very quickly and gently urged me to reconsider but changed the plan to implant it in my left ear without the car salesman approach. The surgery was a success and while I still need to lipread, my speech has greatly improved and I can finally hear leaves rustling on the sidewalk.
I am glad I came to him.

He could have suggested surgery right off, as some surgeons would, but wanted to see if the ear drum would heal on it's own with medication.
