Great pastries, & lovely coffee. Esca Vitae is a really nice European style bakery & café. I’d recommend you pop over for breakfast, snack, or something nice to take home.
To be completely honest, I was sad to see Prairie Thunder leave. but a few weeks ago I saw that a new Bakery was starting business at their old location. Today I decided to visit. the new ambiance wasn't as "Oklahoma Prairie" feeling and their loaf selection wasn't as was but I could tell it was still a local business. I decided to try their Corn-beef on Rye and potato soup. I felt the portions were a little small like maybe 3/4 the size I'd like but at the same price I paid. that being said, it tasted Incredible. it was probably the best food I've tasted in a long time.
Stopped by for a quick desert and coffee (7-29-17 @ apx 7 pm). At first glance it looked quite charming. However the man at the counter seemed quite out of it. We ordered 2 slices of cake and a latte which took over 20 minutes for him to put on plates and an additional 15 to ring up and we were the only ones in the store. I want to believe this was just a case of lax employees as the Italian cream cake was wonderful. As well the breads and pretzels looked amazing. We watched several people come in after us and deal with the same issues. I will probably give the place another shot as per reviews it seems I just was there at the wrong time.
This place has quiche and fresh fruit and freshly baked goods and coffee and tea and for some reason I keep going back there, I guess I just like it. The food is pretty high-quality they have pastries and things like that. I wish they had booths that would make me like it better. It really draws a wide range of Ages. In Midtown a lot of people just walk over there because they live nearby.
