To be honest, I feel they worked up a trust base with us only to try and abuse it later for their own profits.
Debbie and her staff at Candlewood auto are fast, friendly and very reliable.. We recommend them highly..
It's been about 18 months since this experience and my AC is great and I still have the same tires, plenty of tread left and had them checked about 4-5 months ago. I hate that Candlewood burned me like that, I'd MUCH rather support the local auto mechanic but Midas really has been treating me right. = \
I have seen a few people recommend Candlewood Automotive and feel I should share my experience with them.
Been coming here over 10 years. Fair, straight to the point, honest people. Debbie is a riot.
They fixed my vehicle quickly both times - their first attemp to fix my vehicle didn't do the job
My husband and I decided to go get a few second opinions, he had a great mechanic he loved down in Moore so that week I drove it down there, worried about the AC. Keep in mind the AC was blowing COLD air and not making any noise whatsoever. My husband's mechanic checked it out and came back with, "There is absolutely nothing wrong with your AC." No repairs needed and he sent me on my way. I was still worried and stopped by Midas right there on NW Expressway. After wringing my hands for awhile in their waiting room I get called back up for the verdict. My AC is 100% fine, no repairs needed. I mentioned what the lady at Candlewood had said about pieces breaking off and they scoffed at that. Then I asked them to take a look at the rest of the things Candlewood had given me a quote for (I handed them the sheet so they could check the items) and while the small handful of things were correct, the two big ticket items (AC & tires) were wrong. Nothing wrong with my tires either except they were getting old. They have plenty of tread and Midas suggested I keep coming in to get them checked once a year.
My car got rear-ended quite badly while sitting at a stop light (girl who slammed into me was drugged up from have tooth surgery... why on earth SHE was driving when her boyfriend was in the passenger seat is lost on me..) so my insurance company totaled it out and cut me a check for how much they thought it was worth. So then I went on the search for a new vehicle and knew I would need it checked out prior to purchasing. Candlewood does charge a small fee for this ($50 I think?) but they were by far my favorite so I brought them the potential vehicles to get checked out. Make sure they weren't lemons prior to handing someone thousands of dollars. Finally found one I really liked and according to Candlewood it would need a new AC system (though it was currently blowing cold air just fine), new tires, and a small handful of other things. They wrote me up a quote for the work so I took that to the person selling the vehicle and said, "Hey, this is what will need to be fixed, I'll buy your vehicle for your price minus half of the repairs." We shook hands, met at the tag agency and I happily drove my new car home.
For the first few times (5x? 6x?) we were extremely pleased with them! Competitive prices and very friendly, I always felt welcome when I came in with one of our vehicles. Lady at the front desk sure could talk your ear off, but I loved that about walking in that it felt like greeting a friend I hadn't seen recently. We have a car, SUV and a truck that all needed a few things, the truck moreso since it's older than I am... lol!
They will rip you off. My car was dropped off and I was not informed that it would be 200 for diagnostic test. My car didn't need for security system to be reset. I have had my cars serviced at other shops and they call and inform you of cost before they perform service to vehicle. Debbie didn't inform me of cost until after service. We are paying 433 for no reason. The security system was never an issue. The battery was ran down. Do not take your car to this place by. They are small garage looking to cash in. Debbie will fast talk you during service and never tell you how much services cost until you have no choice to pay. This will be reported to the better business bureau..and few other places. I'm so upset at the fact they are ripping us off. I found it hilarious that they said they had to reset security system when it was never the issue. The battery if anything just needed to be replaced. I'm going to let everyone I know to not go here and will post reviews on every site. I do not want another hard working family to be ripped off.
The next day I took it back to Candlewood to get the AC system fixed (I figured I would do a few things at a time) and they tell me after having it for a few hours that it's worse than they thought and the first estimate of about $600 was too low and the new price was going to be $1100! WHAT?! The front desk lady then informed me that once she heard of a part breaking off and flying into the engine which caused a LOT more damage and it would be best to get this fixed ASAP!!! I really felt like I might be driving around in a death trap... but that markup was really steep and I would not agree to that without consulting my husband.
