Just paid $27 for this. Least they could have done was give a second bag of chips. Definitely won't be back any time soon. No wonder they are never busy.
I used to really enjoy this location. I would go weekly with my wife. That all changed on my birthday. We had a horrible experience and no one that works there seems to care.
We have visited this restaurant several times, the service is usually average to good. This particular time was worse than others, but it's average on a daily basis. The food is usually pretty tasty, it's moderately priced, the selection has gotten smaller and some of the popular items we liked are now gone. We'll probably step in again for a meal just to check and see if they've changed anything else. I gave it three stars because the food is consistent and the prices are moderate. It could move up to a 4-star with better service, but probably not going to happen at this location.
We tried to contact the corporate office 3 times. Since they never contacted us back, we just decided to start eating at another Mexican restaurant instead. It's a shame. I used to really like this place...
Long story short, the waitress didn't show for 10 minutes. 8 more to get our water. We had a view of the kitchen and our food sat for 15 minutes before a different waitress brought our cold food to us. When we asked the hostess to see the manager, he asked if he could reheat/remake it. He never showed his face again. When our waitress finally reappeared, we told her about the cold food. She said, "Oh... when would you like me to bring you your desert?"
On the border is one of my favorite restaurants. However, at this on the border, there is only one good waiter and his name is Markus. If Markus wasn’t there, I would give 1 star. Both the other waiters in the bar area cared more about games on than doing anything at all for us every time I’ve gone (used to go multiple times a week until the service got so bad). Last time we sat in a booth in the bar area and Markus (bartender who was not our server) had to come get our drink orders, bring the drinks, bring out the food, etc. and the only thing the waiter did was take our order and watch the game and he only had one table!! I am a server and have been for years, so I understand being busy but there was hardly anyone there, he was just watching the game. Since then we’ve only sat with Markus at the bar and is the only reason we’ve kept coming, but today we had a different bartender (Jared) and the service was also very bad- we had to ask for everything, he was kinda rude from the beginning, I was out of water, salsa, and chips the majority of the time, and he stood there staring us down with his arms crossed while we were talking about how much to tip. If you go to this on the border sit at the bar with Markus, otherwise be ready for horrible service.
Always have had great service at this location. Love the fresh tortillas but don't expect the same great chips you can get from the store with their name on it. Food choices are as expected. Bar area is big enough for a group of friends.
