Heard about the new ideas for it!!! I can't wait for that to take off!!
hours of operation vary regardless of what website says. new management is getting a better selection of tackle though.
This is a convenient shop right by the lake. They have a small selection of tackle and boat accesories. They opened a cafe inside that I haven't tried yet, but it looked nice. The bathrooms are usually clean.
Nice lake although I've never been able to catch any fish here on multiple attempts. No swimming allowed..not that it stops most people. Good boat ramp and a small shop to buy drinks and things you may have forgotten. There is also a park for kids to play at but the slides and stuff get extremely hot when the sun is out.
I used to frequent the trails next to the lake for years. Even used to come here with my dad to go offroading in his trucks. Sadly, they have shut it down for offroaders and oftentimes have the gates locked so nobody can get back there at all. We came out here from Texas on Memorial Day to show my daughter how much fun it can be out here. The weather was absolutely beautiful and the ground was completely dry. The gates were all locked with a sign put up that said "closed due to inclement weather." What a joke.
If you do happen to find the gates unlocked some day be mindful of the speed limit. I got a ticket back in 2007 or 2008 for going 25mph. There were NO posted limit signs anywhere and I knew this for a fact because I drove back there 3-4 times a week for over a year. It was my way of relaxing and leaving my problems behind me. The police officer informed me the limit was 15mph and that I was definitely speeding despite there being no signs. He actually accused me of going faster (because he "heard" me coming) but said he never saw me do it so he couldn't cite me for it. My car was very loud back then and I typically left it in first gear to get through rough terrain. My first gear went up to 30mph before redlining so I couldn't have been going any faster than that. Still, there was no reasoning with him and fighting it in court would have been pointless. Learn from my mistakes.
The lake is the most beautiful I've ever seen it. It reminds me of Murray or brokenbow clear water. You can see a good 4ft plus into the water...
Very cool place. The person that leases it is awesome, very nice guy. Great place to kick back and watch a football game, also serves beer and has Tv's everywhere in the seating area and a huge nice fireplace. Even has music(stereo)playing outside if you want to hang out there. Go visit this Mariana, you'll love it !
