This is one of our favorite lakes to attend as a family. When I want to allow my inner kid to come out this is where I go. We love that we can play, have a nice meal, enjoy the nice breeze that comes off the water, feed the ducks , just enjoy the lake itself.
I grew up here and it was always fun going to the park to play by the lakeside. The amount of waterfowl in the area is crazy though. There's such a large variety of waterfowl too. Stars and stripes has multiple family dinning stations where you can bbq there is also a park for the kids and a basketball court. There is a presidential monument by the lakeside and lake hefner walking trails nearby.
Nice city park. Plenty of parking. Water fountain on trails. Nice playground. Sits on a peninsula extending into Lake Hefner, a water reservoir. Lacks shady areas. Picnic Pavillion adjacent to playground. Unsure if restrooms were open.
It is a pretty nice park. Large play area and nice lake observation area. Parking is decent. Does get crowded when the weather is nice. Lots of Canadian geese.
I see so much potential for this park. There are a lot of play areas and bbq/picnic areas. There's definitely a concern regarding safety around the Flag /monument area. The cement blocks at the edge are about to fall over into the lake. Kinda swampy in areas. I wish some people would have more respect and not leave their trash lying around, but being that I was there on Labor Day, it was busy. The concept is great, just needs some TLC. My toddler had a blast in the play area that seems to cater to many ages/abilities.
