I have kayaked at the whitewater facility four times now, and this place is amazing. It may not have the beauty of natural whitewater, but the level of whitewater is no joke. The only con is that the water is pretty intimidating for new paddlers, but I guess this is a trade-off for having a world-class venue. I would like to teach my kids to paddle, but don't feel this is the best place to introduce them. They do lower the flow rate later in the day, but it tends to lower the rec channel to the point of scraping down, and the competition channel does not change much. One other small complaint is that the rental WW kayaks are not maintained very well. I rented a playboat during one visit, and the foot rest system did not work properly in any of them. I still give it five stars though, for the whitewater alone. You have to see this place to believe it. People need to realize that this is not a theme park ride. There is risk of injury, albeit lower, just like any natural whitewater setting. It is not fair to give this place a one star rating because your raft flipped and you went for a swim. Maybe you had a bad experience, but that does not mean you had a poor guide or the facility is to blame. I know WW swims can be painful, I have done my fair share, but that risk comes with the experience. From what I have seen, they don't happen very often, and when they do, the guides and shore support do a good job of pulling people out without incident.
Excellent outdoor attraction for the family! Visiting today for the second time with our three year old. There are activities for all ages, beautiful scenery and great food! My wife and I came for our anniversary last year and are visiting today with the whole family to try out the youth zone. Great food as well and super close to Bricktown (we walked from Bass Pro. OKC is on the rise for vacation destinations!
Has to be seen in person + even if you don't want to get on the water. The Whitewater Rapids is exciting to even just watch. The restaurant at the Rapids serves healthy and delicious choices. Always a good breeze down there; if you're not having fun on the Tower, Zip Line, or rapids, it's a great place to walk or sit and watch a while and feel like you're someplace far away by the water.
This place is awesome! Things I think families should know...you can reserve your rafting time and it makes a difference. Definitely bring water shoes shoes and socks get gross. The locker are small bring only necessities on a hot day you don't need a towel. It is worth packing a lunch and bringing a cooler and going to the car for lunch. It took us over 50 minutes to get our lunch.
Great place to spend the day, it's best to arrive early if you plan to zip line. I was disappointed the extreme cam on the zip line is not active, and on top of this they don't allow you to bring cameras up, even if you have pockets that zip that keep them from falling. The rafting was awesome and all the guides were great and very informative about safety. The kayaks were very fun, and there was plenty available. Concession food prices were fair. The main desk at check in and for passes should be extended as it took 15 minutes to get through the line. Hannah our tour guide on our raft was very entertaining and informative. Kiwi was very helpful and thorough on safety. Well worth the price, but needs longer hours to accommodate the success of the park.
