I know from experience that being homeless and jobless often leaves you desperate for any help you can get, but I truly urge you to come to Wonderfully Made only when you have exhausted all other options and are forced to choose between this place and sleeping on the street.

God is good all the time the house mother at wonderfully made homes is hateful and does not seem to care for children are anyone else there is nothing wonderful about this place it is more like a camp than a home

This is an okay place to go if you are completely out of options and have no other choice. They pride the foundation on being a "Christian" non-profit that helps homeless women and their children transition into self-sufficiency through faith and empowerment. While it's true that they are faith-based, they are far from Christian (Christian translates into little Christ, or Christ-like). The attitude of the owner is one of prejudice, racism, and self-righteousness. Did she help me learn job skills? Yes, through forced, free labor running their office, during which I was not allowed time to seek gainful employment. Want to spend a day putting in applications and submitting resumes in person? Forget about it. One woman was evicted for such behavior! Was I empowered to take charge of my life through responsibility and initiative? Not even close. I was shamed and given an infraction for doing the job I was ASKED to do. There is no structure or chain-of-command in regards to the management. Fortis a "House Mother" who oversees activity of the residents in the home. Unfortunately, she is so engrossed with the idea of having a position of power and authority, she completely forgot how to *actually help* the residents. Instead, she uses her authority to verbally abuse them, and most impressively, make them feel so shameful and even fearful that they try to completely avoid her. Even worse, if she doesn't like a person in the home, she will lie and tell a slanderous story to the owner to get the person kicked out. One resident I saw evicted was placed into a mental ward after they manipulated the system because they " felt it was best for her", instead of allowing her to find her own place. One woman had a young child who behaved normally for a child their age. The mother was told that the child was possessed by demons and she was a bad parent for allowing such behavior! (The child was 2 and liked to run and say "no", as most 2 year olds are prone to do).

As for the home itself...it's old, semi-dilapidated, and in need of serious repairs. There are bare wires hanging from sockets where light fixtures should be. There are holes in the floor where they just carpeted over it to make it appear okay. There is only one shower and toilet for 8 or more people, and the shower itself meets the wall where there would normally be an actual wall, but there isn't. You can see the studs and framing of the walls. There is mold under the sinks in the bathroom and kitchen; probably in other areas that are unseen as well. Oh, and the bugs! I've only seen a few cockroaches, but me and my children were bitten many times by ants and possibly bedbugs. The ants are a huge problem that they have been told about many times, yet they have done nothing to solve the problem. I can't confirm the bedbugs, but a quick Google search suggests that's what I saw and was bitten by. In this small three bedroom house with a converted garage, they try to house as many as 10-15 women and children. It is unsafe, unsanitary, and detrimental to the overall health and wellbeing of the residents- not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well.
