This place is really nice! Spacious rooms, excellent water pressure in the shower, and housekeeping was very respectful of our belongings while we were away. The rooms are nice and clean, and the bed was very comfortable.
I was super disappointed in our stay. We've stayed at the Country Inn on NW Expressway a few times and have always had an amazing experience. We decided to give this one a go since the whirlpool tub was in the room - you mean we can watch Netflix while relaxin' in a jacuzzi tub?!
This was our third & final stay here. This used to be a very nice hotel at a solid mid-level price. However, the owner has now cut so many corners he has created a sub-par property. Mattresses need to be changed (heard 2 other couples complaining openly about this]. We changed rooms twice after checking in to finally have a room with just OK beds. Carpets in all 3 of our rooms as well as many public areas are dirty and stained - and I mean VERY dirty and VERY stained. Breakfast is included but many fewer choices now compared to last year. Now using powdered eggs & something that is supposed to be french toast but tastes like yuk. Dining room now has a new daily issue with many pesky flies. Furniture in the guest rooms needs simple scratch & dent touch up but I'm not holding my breath. Water pressure has been reduced in the rooms to cut overall use. All in all a great looking hotel which needs to return to its former roots of providing more value to its guests who in turn will write more positive reviews and garner more business for this property.
But. Again, lame experience. The room was run down. Carpet looked like a herd of elephants stayed the weekend and the furniture wasn't much better. The cabinet door to the refrigerator was broken and the wood was chipped on most pieces of furniture. The bed was super uncomfortable. Felt like the mattress desperately needed to be replaced.
Not worth $130+ a night, that's for sure. Will not be coming back.
The location was conveniently close to shopping centers and the mall. The breakfast was good. The hot tub was nice and hot! The only issue was a smell that we had in our room.
For the price this place is great if you don't need any amenities and you're just here for sleeping. Unfortunately we had a lot of waiting while we were in town. This place could definitely use a refurbishing. For instance tour bathroom looked fine until you looked down you'll see where the pieces of the wall didn't fit right or not touching at all. There were nicks in the corners and they just covered it with plexiglass instead of painting it first. Very odd.
Breakfast was a HUGE disappointment. I get it y'all, most hotels you gotta keep your food expectations real low... But we've stayed at several Carlton hotels and have always enjoyed the spread. Here tho, not the case. Not a lot of options and what was there wasn't fresh.
