I stayed at this hotel for a three-month business trip, and I'd have absolutely NO problem rating this hotel a five-star if it weren't for its atrocious housekeeping standards. I swear I felt like the housekeepers had a vendetta against me! I spent the last month of my stay there on a 3:30-midnight shift and, despite pleading with the front desk and housekeeping staff on several occasions to clean the room in the afternoon, I still had to deal with numerous housekeepers knocking on the door at 9 a.m. Worse yet, housekeeping service was sporadic, at best. There was a week or two that I’d have housekeepers come by for six days, then no more than two days in the following weeks. I spilled oatmeal on the pantry and kitchen floors nearly a month ago, and it’s STILL on the pantry floor. I gave up on anyone cleaning my kitchen floor, so I asked a housekeeper if she would just loan me a wet mop or whatever she had available, so I could do it myself. She offered to clean the floor and, quite literally, I couldn’t tell the difference between the ‘clean’ and the ‘dirty’. I don’t really blame the housekeepers, though their idea of “clean” (make the bed, empty the trash, change out the towels) is vastly different than mine. This problem is a managerial-level issue (inadequate staffing levels) and, until Sonesta gets this fixed, I will not be staying there again. I experienced several minor maintenance issues in my rooms, and not once did anyone come by to even LOOK at the problem, despite housekeepers assuring me otherwise. One more thing: Sonesta is a ‘pet-friendly’ hotel, so you can expect your room’s carpets to have pet stains everywhere. I stayed in two rooms during my three-month stay, and they both had nasty stains on the floor.
My initial review; will leave one later, as I am here for a long time...for work.
My husband and I stayed for 3 days, in a 1 bedroom. Had a very pleasant experience. General house keeping (dishes, beds, linens, trash) daily, she did a fabulous job! Check in staff was awesome. Did have a slight issue with A/C called front staff and it was fixed by the time we got back to the room. All in all, I give it a 5 very impressed and we stay in hotels probably 265 days a year!
But first impression: about a 2/5. The employee that checked me into my room was quiet, not very friendly, and seemed like he didn't want to be there. He got me all checked in, and gave me my room keys, with my room number and that was it; no map, no direction, nothing. This place is not a small place, lots of different buildings, and he left me on a scavenger hunt to find my room. After about 3 laps of the area, I finally found it. Additionally on the check in, he didn't say anything about breakfast, or the dinners, what time they are at, where they are at, etc. Very poor first impression for walking in.
I have stayed many places here in Oklahoma City, both for long and short trips and as of this moment, Sonesta is my favorite hands down. The rooms are nice, the staff is great and the facilities available are neat and clean. As of right now, for all of my future trips I will be staying at Sonesta.
This was a very nice place. The only down was the bed was right by the couch where kiddo was sleeping. Note to self this is not a family fun hotel for adults while kids sleep. I was looking forward to a door of privacy but not so much. Very clean and convenient for cooking! Would not stay with kids again but an adult weekend perhaps. Was totally Abe go take the shoes and socks off here.
The room: 3/5. It is a nice room, good size for an extended stay. Just not perfectly clean. There was some debris on the floor in the kitchen and carpet by the couch. The fridge still had some specks of lettuce or something from the previous occupants. So definitely could be cleaned more in depth between occupancy.
Breakfast/Dinner: Have not had those yet so can't tell on taste and variety, but the time frame 0/5. Breakfast Monday through Friday starts at 7am, where the weekends it starts at 6am? Business persons have to leave by 7am for work, or have to be at work by 7am. So may want to look at switching the times.
